There's something special about this time of year in the New Forest. Woodland walks stretch a little longer, gardens burst into colour, barbecues become a regular fixture and, of course, Wimbledon brings a little extra excitement to the season.

At Hockey's Farm Shop in South Gorley, we've been embracing everything summer has to offer with a fresh new menu that's full of seasonal flavour, quality local produce and exciting new ideas from our talented Kitchen Manager, Kerry.

Over recent weeks, Kerry has been working behind the scenes creating a collection of vibrant lunchtime specials and launching a brand-new programme of Summer Pop-Up Evenings. Her passion for fresh ingredients, classic dishes with a modern twist and creating memorable dining experiences is helping shape an exciting new chapter for the Farmyard Café.

We think these new dishes are game, set and certainly on point.

Fresh Flavours for Summer

Whether you're joining us after exploring the New Forest National Park, meeting friends for lunch in Fordingbridge or simply popping in for a coffee and something delicious, Kerry's new seasonal menu has something for everyone.

ChalkStream Smoked Trout Crostini

Beautifully smoked ChalkStream trout served on toasted sourdough with smooth cream cheese and fresh pea shoots. Light, elegant and packed with flavour, it's a wonderful celebration of quality British produce and one of our favourite new additions to the menu.

Chorizo, Tapenade & Feta Bruschetta

A rustic toasted bruschetta layered with rich chorizo, vibrant tapenade and creamy feta. Full of Mediterranean flavour with just the right balance of richness and freshness, it's the perfect light lunch for sunny afternoons.

Ottolenghi Tomato, Olive & Aubergine on Toasted Sourdough

Inspired by the bold flavours and colourful style of Ottolenghi, this vibrant vegetarian dish features roasted aubergine, juicy tomatoes and olives served on toasted sourdough. Fresh, wholesome and packed with flavour, it's a celebration of simple ingredients done beautifully.

New Forest Strawberries with Cornish Clotted Cream

No British summer menu would be complete without strawberries.

We've paired beautifully sweet, locally grown New Forest strawberries with indulgent Cornish clotted cream to create a timeless seasonal favourite. Whether you're watching Wimbledon from home or enjoying lunch in our Farmyard Café, it's the perfect way to finish your meal.

Introducing Our Summer Pop-Up Dining Evenings

This July also marks the beginning of something very special.

Following the refurbishment of our beautiful polytunnel, we're launching a series of exclusive Summer Pop-Up Dining Evenings that bring together fantastic food, great company and the relaxed atmosphere of dining on the farm.

Designed and created by Kerry, these evenings are all about celebrating comforting British classics using wonderful seasonal ingredients in a unique setting.

Our first event takes place on Friday 24th July, and we're delighted to invite you to join us.

Summer Pop-Up Evening – Fish Pie Night

For our first evening, Kerry has created a menu that's comforting, generous and perfect for sharing with family and friends.

Homemade Classic Fish Pie

Rich, creamy and full of flavour, our homemade Fish Pie is everything a comforting British classic should be.

Vegetarian Fishless Pie

A delicious vegetarian alternative featuring locally sourced asparagus and mushrooms beneath a rich golden topping that's every bit as satisfying.

Seasonal Summer Vegetables

A colourful selection of freshly prepared summer vegetables accompanies both dishes, showcasing the very best produce the season has to offer.

Fruits of the Forest Trifle

We'll finish the evening with a beautifully layered Fruits of the Forest Trifle, light, fruity and the perfect ending to a relaxed summer supper.

Our bar will also be serving carefully selected wines, refreshing bottles of Hawkstone, a range of local drinks, barista coffee, iced coffees and non-alcoholic refreshments throughout the evening.

A Unique Evening at Hockey's

Unlike a traditional restaurant service, our Summer Pop-Up Evenings are designed to bring people together around exceptional food in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, catching up with friends or simply looking for something different to do in the New Forest this summer, we think you'll love the atmosphere inside our beautifully refurbished polytunnel.

To keep the evening intimate, we've limited the event to just 50 guests.

Once those places are gone, they're gone.

If our previous pop-up events are anything to go by, we don't expect tickets to stay available for very long.
