From Five-Star Reviews to Persian Night – The Summer Series is Only Just Beginning at Hockey's Farm Shop

When Kerry first started planning Hockey's Summer Series Pop-Up Suppers several weeks ago, the aim was simple, to create a series of relaxed summer evenings where fantastic food, great company and the very best local ingredients could be enjoyed together in the unique setting of Hockey's Farm Shop.

Every menu has been carefully planned to celebrate different cuisines from around the world while showcasing the quality produce that Hockey's is known for. From choosing the menus and sourcing ingredients to organising the finer details of each evening, there has been a huge amount of work taking place behind the scenes to make the Summer Series something special.

On Friday evening, all of that planning came together as we welcomed guests to the very first Summer Series Pop-Up Supper.

Our opening Fish Pie Night featured delicious fish pie made using fresh fish from The Mobile Fish Company, followed by a Forest trifle, and judging by the feedback we received, it was the perfect way to launch the series.

Kerry and the entire kitchen team did a terrific job producing an evening that our guests clearly enjoyed, while our front of house team ensured everyone received the warm welcome and friendly service that Hockey's is proud to offer.

Perhaps the greatest measure of the evening's success came afterwards.

Before the weekend was over, a number of wonderful five-star Google reviews had already been shared by guests who had attended.

One guest described the evening as "a fantastic evening" and said the food "absolutely exceeded my expectations." They praised the fish pie for being "packed with flavour, beautifully cooked and clearly made with top-quality ingredients," while the fresh mango, red pepper and chilli salsa was described as "absolutely amazing – fresh, vibrant and the perfect accompaniment."

Another guest commented on the atmosphere, describing it as "relaxed, welcoming and friendly" with "a great community feel."

One review ended with the words:

"We'll definitely be back for the next one!"

There really isn't a better endorsement than that.

Another guest described the evening as "so, so good for the price," praised the "friendly staff" and "fantastic chef," and finished by saying it was "really worth a trip there."

Everyone at Hockey's would like to thank those who joined us and everyone who has taken the time to leave such kind feedback. It means a great deal to the whole team and is exactly what makes events like these so worthwhile.

Don't Miss Persian Night

If you missed our first Summer Series evening, the good news is that there is still plenty to look forward to.

On Friday 31st July, the Summer Series continues with Persian Night, where Kerry and the kitchen team will be serving another carefully created menu inspired by the rich and colourful flavours of Persian cuisine.

Known for its fragrant herbs, warming spices and beautifully balanced dishes, Persian food is perfect for sharing and enjoying with friends and family on a summer evening.

Our licensed bar will be open throughout the evening, offering a selection of wines, beers, ciders, spirits and soft drinks to complement your meal.

One of the things that makes the Summer Series so enjoyable is that every evening offers something completely different. Each menu has been thoughtfully designed, giving guests the opportunity to experience new flavours while enjoying the relaxed atmosphere that makes Hockey's so special.

Following the fantastic response to Fish Pie Night, we'd encourage anyone thinking of joining us for Persian Night to book sooner rather than later.

BBQ Season is in Full Swing

While the Summer Series has been taking centre stage on Friday evenings, it's also one of the busiest times of year for our butchery.

Tom, Graham and the butchery team have been working incredibly hard preparing handcrafted burgers and freshly made kebabs ready for another busy week of summer barbecues.

Whether you're planning a family get-together, cooking for friends or simply making the most of a sunny evening at home, our butchery counter is full of delicious options, all prepared fresh by our experienced team.

Our burgers continue to be one of the most popular choices throughout the summer, while our range of freshly prepared kebabs has been flying out of the counter. They're quick to cook, full of flavour and ideal for making outdoor entertaining easy.

Alongside the butchery, you'll also find everything else you need for the perfect barbecue, including fresh salads, locally grown vegetables, artisan breads, cheeses, sauces, chutneys and refreshing drinks.

It's one of the reasons so many people choose Hockey's Farm Shop as their first stop before a summer weekend.

Make Hockey's Part of Your Summer

The school holidays are now underway, and whether you're visiting the New Forest or live locally, there's always plenty to enjoy during a visit to Hockey's.

Children can meet our friendly animals, families can enjoy breakfast, coffee or lunch in the Farmyard Cafe, and there's time to browse the Farm Shop and The Vinery for fresh local produce, gifts and seasonal treats.

Many visitors tell us they came in for one or two things and ended up staying much longer, and that's exactly what we hope Hockey's can be a place to slow down, enjoy good food and spend quality time together.
