The Wessex Bloodhounds Visit Hockey’s - Saturday 13th June
One of the highlights of the month will undoubtedly be the arrival of the Wessex Bloodhounds on Saturday 13th June between 10am–1pm.
Visitors will have the chance to meet these incredible dogs up close, learn more about the world of bloodhounds and, very likely, receive a healthy amount of slobber in the process.
Known for their extraordinary tracking abilities, gentle temperaments and unmistakable characters, the bloodhounds are always a huge talking point wherever they go and we are thrilled to be welcoming them to Hockey’s this summer.
It promises to be a fantastic morning for families, dog lovers and anyone curious to learn more about these remarkable animals.
Join Us for the Hockey’s Golf Day - Tuesday 16th June
We are also incredibly excited to be hosting a very special Hockey’s Golf Day at Ferndown Forest Golf Club on Tuesday 16th June.
As a valued customer of Hockey’s, we are delighted to invite a small number of our loyal community to enjoy an exclusive private Golf Day set amongst one of the South’s most picturesque golf courses, surrounded by stunning woodland and rolling greens in the heart of the Dorset countryside.
The day is completely free of charge and simply our way of saying thank you for your continued support of Hockey’s Farm Shop and Farmyard Cafe over the years.
Expect a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, great company and a memorable day shared with fellow members of the Hockey’s community.
Places are limited and available by invitation only. If you would like to join us, please email dom@hockeysfarm.co.uk with your details and we will be in touch.
A More Sustainable Summer at Hockey’s
Sustainability continues to play an important role at Hockey’s, from supporting local suppliers and reducing food miles to investing in renewable energy and thoughtful farming practices here in the New Forest.
As proud winners of a Sustainability Champion Award in 2023, we are always looking for practical ways to make small positive changes that fit naturally into everyday life.
That is why we are so pleased to have introduced our new Hockey’s reusable eco cups and water bottles.
Designed to help reduce single-use waste whilst keeping drinks hot or cold for longer, they are perfect for busy mornings, forest walks, commuting or simply your regular coffee stop at Hockey’s.
If you purchase one of our reusable eco cups, you will also receive a free hot drink with your purchase, plus 10% off hot drinks every time you bring it back to the Farmyard Cafe for reuse.
It is a small switch that reflects the wider values we care deeply about here at Hockey’s - thoughtful farming, sustainability and community without compromise.
Summer Days at Hockey’s
June is one of our favourite times on the farm. The outdoor seating areas are busy, the animals are enjoying the warmer weather and the whole site has that lovely relaxed summer atmosphere.
Nestled in South Gorley, Hockey’s has become somewhere people can properly spend time, whether that is enjoying locally sourced food in the New Forest, wandering around The Vinery, meeting the animals or stretching your legs on the Hockey’s Loop Walk.
Inside the Farmyard Cafe, food is served daily from 9am–4.30pm with menus centred around fresh, seasonal ingredients and proper homemade flavour.
From breakfasts and lunches to sausage rolls, cakes and cream teas, there is always something tempting arriving from the kitchen.
And yes - Georgia’s cakes are still causing quite a stir.
Fresh, Local & Ready for Summer
This time of year always feels like the beginning of simpler food. Lighter suppers, outdoor dining, impromptu BBQs and meals that rely on good ingredients doing most of the work themselves.
The butchery counter is packed with beautifully prepared local meats including our own rare breed British Lop pork, Devon Red beef, lamb and barbecue favourites ready for the warmer weekends ahead.
Alongside that, the Farm Shop shelves are full of seasonal produce, fresh bakery items, deli treats, local drinks and those little extras that turn an ordinary meal into something memorable.
It is one of the things we are most proud of at Hockey’s - being somewhere you can genuinely pick up everything you need in one visit whilst supporting local producers, sustainable farming and locally sourced food in the New Forest.
We cannot wait to welcome you throughout June and beyond.
See you soon at Hockey's Farm Shop.
